In year 494, the emperor of Northern Wei Dynasty had moved his capital from Datong to Luoyang, which also decamped the construction of Yungang Grottoes to Longmen Grottoes. Launched by similar group of people, the style of Yungang and Longmen Grottoes were similar. Now Longmen was recorded to contain the largest number of caves(more than 2000) among the grottoes of China. Described Yungang Grottoes as the largest and most impressive collection of Northern Wei to Tang Dynasties, UNESCO had accepted Longmen Grottoes as one of the world cultural heritage of China in year 2000. Longmen Grottoes are also one of the top four grottoes in the territory, along with the other three were Mogao Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes and Maijishan Grottoes.
